the Blue Planet Sound came about around ten years ago. We had been moving around a lot in Asia and commuting back and forth to Europe to do the odd gig. Tram parties in Hong Kong, weddings in castles atop Swiss mountains.
We went to live in Barcelona for a year playing what we thought was music for tourists: easy stuff: Burt Bacharach, Henry Mancini, Tom Jobim. There, a DJ friend from England came to visit armed with a tape compiled from some albums he'd bought recently.
It was an off-the-wall mix of TV Theme tunes, 60's Jazz, Italian soundtracks and sunny sambas... Easy Listening was suddenly hip again in Britain and there were clubs with pink sofas, fluffy walls and Sergio Mendes blaring from the soundsystem. Also, young producers across Europe and in Japan were making modern tracks on this same easy tip, complete with strings and bah-bah vocals.
Quite independently we'd arrived at a similar musical form that far from being bland background music was timeless and very much alive.
So became the Blue Planet Sound.

Today, Sam & PK live in the area where France, Germany & Switzerland meet - performing often in Basel, Freiburg in Breisgau, Zürich, Bern and Strasbourg - playing bossa nova in bars and clubs, at private and corporate events, dj-ing regularly with their funky, latin sound and making semi-electronic music with their lounge project James Beige.Sam.htmlPK.htmlBossa_Nova.htmlhttp://www.myspace.com/missgolightlythedukeoftuneshttp://www.jamesbeige.comhttp://www.jamesbeige.comshapeimage_2_link_0shapeimage_2_link_1shapeimage_2_link_2shapeimage_2_link_3shapeimage_2_link_4shapeimage_2_link_5
